Mastiff - Extra Large - Adult - Female - Dog - MATILDA IN VIRGIN

Meet Matilda! Matilda is a one year old 110 lb recently spayed fawn female who came into rescue in North Carolina but is actually being fostered in VA. You can see from her photos above that she has a GORGEOUS typey Mastiff head and beautiful black facial pigment- and is just a breathtakingly lovely Mastiff girl. Her personality matches her looks and she will attract attention wherever she goes. Matilda will do fine in a home with large to medium sized LAID BACK MALE dogs but not good with small fluffies or hyper dogs or girls. She is not suitable for a home with cats most likely either. She really does want to please but something kicks in when she is around large female dogs or dominant little dogs- mostly prey drive instinct. She needs to go to a home without young children as she likes to jump up, is pretty energetic. Matilda is a very high energy girl who requires lots of exercise and will be placed in a home who is willing to take her to obedience classes. Matilda is beginning the treatment for heartworms and is currently quite under-weight but she will be available soon after she has been treated for heartworms and is in better weight. We need your help to cover costs for her heartworm treatments...please donate to the Isaac Fund Today. She loves attention and wants to be by your side whenever possible. In the short time she has been with her foster family, she has been quick to begin picking up on the household routines. Matilda is quite social with new friends, which means more attention to her! Matilda is a very quiet girl and her foster mom says she has yet to hear her bark. She is young and likes to chew and mouth your hand in play. Matilda will go into a crate, but prefers not to. She is a very crafty girl and has found her way out of rooms and the crate. When eating or chewing on a toy she has shown that she can become a little defensive of these possessions but has already began to improve on this resource guarding behavior. An adult can come near her during those times with no problems at all and can even put their hand in the food bowl while she is eating without any concern but small children or other dogs are still an issue. Ms Matilda quietly sits by the door when she needs to go outside and does not make much noise. When she decides it's time to go outside, she needs to be let out within a few minutes -so her foster mom is working on picking up her signals that she has to go. They are also currently working on basic obedience her foster mom says it looks like Matilda is going to be a quick learner who loves to please you. If you wave your hand or raise it, even to scratch your back, she cowers though. It is suspected that she may have been abused. Please consider opening your heart and your home to Matilda in NC!
