Shih Tzu - Small - Adult - Male - Dog - Pumpkin
Description
Pumpkin is a Shih Tzu/Brussels Griffon mix. He is red with black highlights on his ears and face. He recently had a shave down and his hair is short all over. The groomer said he has the personality of a shih tzu. He appears to be in mid-life. He is reticent when he meets people, butonce he trusts you he is friendly and likes attention. He is generally loyal to one person. *VERY IMPORTANT: He needs to see an obedience trainer because he can growl and bite if he is not brought under control by his owner, or he meets someone who scares him. He is a fear biter. This is VERY important with this dog and cannot be ignored. He has been abused and needs to learn to trust a new owner who will not neglect him, has a lot of patience and will work with him. We insist on this and can give recommendations to you of excellent trainers who work with rescue dogs, if needed. Several have stepped forward. He has a cataract in his right eye. He is 10 pounds. He is groomed regularly. He knows a few commands - sit, stay, let's go outside, etc. He listens well. He comes when he is called. He sleeps in a dog bed and eats with other dogs. He should not be around children, dogs or cats. He gets along with other dogs as long as they are passive like him and don't present a threat, but it would be recommended he go to a one dog home. He is neutered, microchipped, up-to-date on his shots and is heartworm and fecal negative. He has been to the vet in the last few months. He has problems with his hip, but the vet said it is from the cataract in his eye, not from an injury. He is a soft, beautiful mix. His original owner could not keep him because of a sad situation in her family. She was forced to give him up and he went to the shelter. We would really like to find a kind, patient person to give him his forever home and work with him. He is ready to go home today. He recently went to the groomer and he looks so cute!
